Hodsock Priory to host ‘Garden Tales’ book signing (3rd February 2010)

Two of the East Midland’s most popular private gardens will join forces on
Friday 19th February when Hodsock Priory welcomes the owners of
Fanshawe Gate Hall in Derbyshire for a special book signing event. Award winning
gardener Cynthia Ramsden’s latest book, ‘Garden Tales’, has been
written to benefit the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) which promotes the
enjoyment of beautiful gardens such as those at Hodsock Priory and
Fanshawe Gate Hall.

‘Garden Tales’ celebrates Open Garden volunteering (29th January 2010)
It takes a small army of over 40 volunteers between the ages of 6 and 86 to
prepare to receive hundreds of visitors to the popular garden at Fanshawe
Gate Hall on the edge of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park. In a special
book to raise funds for the National Garden Scheme and the Oesophageal
Patients Association, award-winning garden owner Cynthia Ramsden has
chronicled the lives and loves of these willing helpers at one of Derbyshire’s
most popular private gardens. Published in September 2009, it is hoped that
‘Garden Tales’ will raise significant amounts for the benefiting charities.

Derbyshire gardeners ‘dig deep’ for Ethiopian wells (31st March 2009)
The beautifully historic Fanshawe Gate Hall in Holmesfield will be opening its garden on Sunday 26th April to support Christian Aid with their latest project - Ethiopia ‘Water Action’. Dedicated owners Cynthia and John Ramsden have worked tirelessly to keep the gardens looking stunning. They are the first garden owners to receive the National Garden Scheme award and have successfully attracted thousands of visitors to Fanshawe Gate Hall, whilst raising funds for various charities along the way.

National Gardens Scheme award for Derbyshire garden (13th March 2009)
John and Cynthia Ramsden, owners of Fanshawe Gate Hall in Holmesfield, Derbyshire have received an Exceptional Service Award from The National Gardens Scheme (NGS), the charity behind the public opening of over 3,600 private gardens in England and Wales. The couple were presented with their award in London last month by Zac Goldsmith, President of the NGS during the event to mark the official launch of The Yellow Book 2009. The event was hosted by TV Gardener and presenter Joe Swift.

Derbyshire garden in Guardian’s ‘must-see’ list 10th June 2008
